Hallum

   Detailed maps of Hallum...

The church in Hallum is well worth visiting.  And between the villages of Hallum and Hijum, you'll find the original farmstead of the Brolsma family...

Boeterhoek, summer 2004. The farm appears in disrepair and the surrounding land unplanted.

The BrolThe Brol was the farm from which the name Brolsma derives.  Records show the Brol as being occupied in 1553 by Haije toe Brol, who may be an early relative.  Pictured above is the farm, called Boeterhoek, that now stands on the land. Jan Jacobs (of the Brol), born about 1620, is the oldest Brolsma that can be traced by written records.  For details, see the Brolsma book.
